Newport School District qualifies for $17.7M in state facility assistance, lowering the cost for taxpayers. For every $1 raised locally through a bond, the state provides approximately 37 cents for Newport. This assistance reduces the total bond amount, saving the average homeowner over $280/yr in taxes.

The District is focused on durable, functional and practical improvements that will improve efficiencies and will be built to last.

Newport School District is maximizing the opportunity for local contractors and vendors to participate in the work.

The District successfully delivered on its previous 2004 bond. It delivered on the projects and paid off the debt as promised.

Newport is one of only a few of the 16 school districts in Spokane and Pend Oreille Counties that do not currently have a school bond.

Newport ranks 247th out of 295 school districts in Washington for the lowest local education tax rate.

Compared to the 15 other school districts in Spokane and Pend Oreille Counties, Newport has the second lowest local educational tax rate.

The District will appoint an independent Citizens' Bond Oversight Committee. The Committee will be responsible for carefully monitoring the proposed bond program to ensure accountability, fiscal transparency, and community trust.

If approved, taxpayers would pay approximately $14.59 per month for every $100,000 assessed ($175/year). For a home with an assessed value of $300,000, the annual cost is approximately $43.75 per month ($525/year).
