Preserve and modernize the 45-year-old Newport High School (Estimated Local Cost $46.3M / Estimated State Assistance: $17.7M)

Recommended Improvements:

  • Replace aged HVAC units with energy efficient systems
  • Replace failing roof
  • Improve safety and security
  • Renovate and improve the original library, commons, stage and band areas
  • Significant upgrades to career and technical spaces to increase hands-on learning and industry preparation
  • Renovate instructional classrooms with energy efficient lights, durable finishes and necessary classroom technology
  • Modernize and upgrade science labs and associated spaces
  • Improve existing main gym with new acoustic panels and ceiling, renovate original locker rooms
  • Enlarge student health, career guidance and office support spaces
  • Construct an auxiliary gym and associated spaces to address student and community demand
  • Improve parking lot and plaza areas with new asphalt, ADA pathways, and lighting
  • Improve outdoor practice areas and grass playfields
